    KIK Consumer Brands – Household Division Our Household Division (“Household”) is the #1 player in North American private label bleach, and supplies private label cleaning programs to prominent American retailers. Although Household started as a small bleach plant in Concord, Ontario, we have since expanded to a network of 8 plants strategically located across the United States to efficiently manufacture a variety of cleaners for both hard and soft surfaces. . In addition to its private label portfolio, Household manufactures and markets Greased Lighting® and The Works® branded products.

     

    We are looking to hire a full time Law Clerk to assist our business with advertising and marketing matters and management of our brand and technology portfolios. Additionally, to assist with the company’s corporate secretary matters. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Law Clerk will be an integral part of the legal team, acting as the first level of interface with our business’ marketing teams. The Law Clerk will work with a high degree of autonomy and perform substantive legal work relating to advertising and marketing issues. The Law Clerk will also be involved in implementing internal policies and process improvements.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Provide legal support to KIK’s brands advising on a wide range of advertising and marketing law matters, including review, approval and guidance on a variety of marketing matters such as PR, website, point-of-sale, billboards, coupons, TV commercials and radio scripts, and any other consumer facing materials in respect of compliance with legislation, industry standards and internal policies, and working with relevant stakeholders as needed.
    • Draft and review simple or standard form legal disclaimers, contest rules, sponsorship arrangements, etc. and provide guidance directly to clients on aspects of compliance and execution.
    • Assist with development of training materials, resources and presentations for our business’ marketing teams on relevant topics, and assist with the maintenance of the legal advertising review process.
    • Manage the maintenance and assist with prosecution of the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including coordination with the business and external counsel. Facilitate powers of attorney and handling of documents for foreign prosecution needs.
    • Assist with the company’s Corporate Secretary matters, including preparing resolutions, minute book maintenance, and coordination with directors, officers and global counsel.
    • Provide assistance and support to colleagues on the legal team with respect to various advertising, marketing and corporate secretary matters.
    • Work with the legal team and our business’ marketing teams on special projects and major marketing initiatives as needed.

     

    Qualifications

     

    • 5 to 10 years of experience in advertising and marketing law at a law firm or in-house legal department. Experience with preparation and/or maintenance of corporate records is beneficial.
    • Law Clerk Diploma or Paralegal Certification.
    • Experience preparing and editing legal documents and correspondence.
    • Self-starter, possesses the ability to plan, organize and prioritize job tasks in order to meet tight deadlines and willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
    • Heightened attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other company personnel.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Visio, IP portfolio management and corporate secretarial database software.
