Responsibilities

As a member of the Maintenance & Reliability within KIK Custom Products, the Automation, Electrical, and Instrumentation (AEI) Specialist interacts with internal and external centers of expertise to ensure reliability centered maintenance and engineering principles are utilized within the department and site. The AEI Specialist is responsible for the troubleshooting / repairs of Electrical Equipment, Instrumentation, PLC's and the execution of automation solutions in support of the Continuous Improvement of the plant. Provide design expertise in the areas of automation, electrical and instrumentation for production support and continuous improvements based on current best practices using approved components and standards. Provide expertise and/or support for internal and external resources during the execution of projects.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance of the facility's electrical components, monitoring and control systems including electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Monitoring devices that control processes within the facility, making adjustments either manually or using instruments as necessary. Periodic maintenance is done to ensure the instrumentation remains in good working condition. Conduct troubleshooting to repair the machines when issues arise. Ability to install new instrumentation and electrical systems.

  • 70% Troubleshooting / repairs / maintenance of Electrical Equipment, Instrumentation, PLC's and the execution of automation solutions in support of the Continuous Improvement of the plant.
  • 15% Execution of automation solutions used for controlling plant process. Will involve design and configuration of control systems and oversight of electrical and instrumentation functions related to projects. Provide troubleshooting expertise in the areas of AEI in support of the plant, as well as manage the troubleshooting tools and documentation. Design control strategies based on current best practice standards and approved components. Investigate, design, write and complete projects that will improve productivity or process reliability.
  • 10% Work with functional teams to identify areas in need of improvement and reliability. An example would be to participate in Root Cause Analysis efforts and solutions. Provide and participate in training for completed projects.
  • 5% Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least completed Electrical trade or Technical degree plus minimum 5 years AEI experience.
  • Have experience to configuring and programming in control systems including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems.
  • Ability to read and update electrical schematics, process and instrumentation diagrams and process control narrative.
  • Works well in a team or individual environment. Is a self-starter.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with minimum supervision and meet deliverables.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of AEI experience with the Industrial Electrician Lisence 442a
  • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) Certification through Instrument Society of America (ISA).
  • Experience with Industrial automation and processes or similar processes.
  • An understanding of continuous and batch process control strategies.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and/or Rexroth, IEC 61131 or other programming languages.
  • Experience with maintenance and reliability practices around automation systems.
  • Instrumentation Experience: Level / Temperature / Pressure switches or transmitters
  • Electrical Experience: Basic understanding of National Electric Code (NEC), IEC standards and ISA standards.
