Supervises and coordinates activities of maintenance staff in setting up, installing, repairing and maintaining manufacturing machinery equipment.  Maintenance supervisor is responsible for ensuring production requests are met promptly and equipment is in safe working order.

Responsibilities

 

  • Communicate with production and scheduling, to ensure that major preventive maintenance is completed on a timely basis.
  • Work with maintenance staff in the design and manufacture of the required parts
  • Plans and directs the preventive and emergency unscheduled repairs of all production related equipment.
  • Work with PM/Training Facilitator to improve equipment PM and develop training modules/lessons to improve overall skill levels in your department
  • Improve equipment reliability, improving equipment set-ups. Working to minimize rate loss
  • Establishes good communication and rapport with our customer, equipment suppliers
  • Manage Vision systems: equipment, customer requirements and regulations
  • Work with Quality Dept. to investigate, write and complete NCR, CAPA’s etc.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of major changes to production line layouts or equipment movement, when required.
  • Ensure that proper levels of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health & Safety and Housekeeping are maintained and that regulatory requirements are met at all times.
  • Develop and encourage a high level of employee involvement and continuous improvement.
  • Constantly striving to eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Provide orientation, coaching, training, monitoring performance and contributions. Completing formal performance evaluations and recommending compensation Manage vacations, time keeping, etc.
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum two-year degree or significant experience required in area of discipline
  • Must have strong communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient computer skills, excel, word, etc.
  • Effective decision-making and problem solving capabilities are a necessary element.
  • Must be able to react quickly to situations that arise in the Plant.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

 WORKING CONDITION

  •  Possibility of working under conditions with high noise levels.
  •  Possible interaction with chemicals and chemical products.
  •  High-pressure situations that require quick and effective decisions.
  •  Occasional outside work.
  • Interacting with a variety of potentially dangerous machinery. Care must be taken at all times.
